Privacy Policy
The Short Version
Holly Timecode is built as a focused on-device tool. We do not run user accounts, in-app analytics funnels, or advertising systems around the product.
Data Stored on Your Device
Holly Timecode stores only the workflow data required to do its job on your device.
- Named presets and other timecode workflow data you create inside the app.
- Optional GPS information used for user bits and related metadata when you explicitly enable those modes.
- App preferences such as frame rate defaults, preset choices, and output-related settings.
This information is stored on your device using native system storage unless you choose to export or share it yourself.
iCloud Sync
On iPhone, iPad, and Mac, your saved presets and achievement records sync through your own private iCloud database so they follow you across your devices. That data lives in your personal iCloud account under Apple’s privacy terms; we operate no server of our own and cannot read it. Sync requires that you be signed in to iCloud, and turning iCloud off for Holly Timecode in system settings leaves the app fully functional on local storage. The Apple TV and Android versions do not use iCloud at all — they store everything locally on the device.
Device Permissions
Location (GPS)
Location is used only when you select a GPS-based user-bits mode. Without location permission, GPS user bits are unavailable, but the core LTC generator still works.
Camera
The current Holly Timecode app does not rely on camera capture for its focused LTC workflow.
Microphone
The microphone is used only by the optional LTC Reader (jam sync) on iPhone, iPad, and Android. Incoming timecode audio is analyzed on your device in real time and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. The Mac and Apple TV versions do not include the reader and do not request microphone access.
Audio Output
Audio output is required to generate LTC. Holly Timecode outputs timecode as audio and does not need microphone access for that workflow.
Exports and Sharing
If you export or share any files, those files leave your device only through the mechanism you choose, such as the system share sheet, email, or cloud storage. Their handling after export depends on the service you use.
No Analytics or Tracking in the App
Holly Timecode is intentionally lightweight:
- No analytics SDKs in the app
- No third-party crash reporting services in the app
- No advertising frameworks
- No user accounts or registration
- No app-side requests to our own tracking servers
The website and app are designed around minimal data handling. The core product is a local tool, not an account system or analytics funnel.
Platform Services
If you download Holly Timecode through Apple or Google distribution channels, those platforms may process purchase, subscription, or platform analytics data under their own policies. We do not receive personally identifying customer data from that process.
Children’s Privacy
Holly Timecode is not directed at children, and we do not intentionally collect personal information from children.
