Core LTC generation stays on-device. No account. No dashboard. No network dependency for the main job.
Focused SMPTE LTC for Real Shoots
Holly Timecode is a dedicated LTC tool for crews who need sync fast and clean. It focuses on dependable SMPTE LTC generation, practical field defaults, and the settings you actually reach for on set.
- Original byte-accurate engineOur own clean-room SMPTE 12M encoder — independently verified for byte-exact output and identical on iPhone and Android, so every device on set jams to the same frame.
- All standard production rates23.976, 24, 25, 29.97 DF/NDF, and 30 fps
- 48 kHz broadcast audio48 kHz output for production-friendly LTC generation.
- Wired output only where it mattersUse headphone or USB audio routes that can actually carry timecode to downstream gear.
- Visual generation feedbackSee signal activity and verify that you are sending a live LTC stream before you jam.
- Time-of-day or custom startStart from time-of-day or an explicit custom value to match the workflow in front of you.
- GPS user bits when you need themWrite date-only, static GPS, or live GPS metadata directly into LTC user bits.
Holly Timecode is built to get crews into the right mode, on the right output path, with the right metadata before the first jam.
One Tap Back to the Right Setup
Named presets turn repeat workflows into one-tap recalls. Save the setup once for each client, truck, or camera package, then stop rebuilding it from memory every call sheet.
Broadcast Truck A29.97 DF • Date bits • -18 dBDocumentary Canon Kit23.976 • GPS Static • -3 dB- Save a known-good setup for each client, truck, or package.
- Jump back to the right frame rate and user-bits mode in one tap.
- Update presets from the live screen when a workflow changes.
Built to Keep Crews Out of Trouble
Holly Timecode is opinionated where production mistakes get expensive. It pushes crews toward valid output, valid GPS states, and broadcast-safe defaults before they roll.
The idea is simple: reduce the number of ways a tired crew can start wrong. Pick the preset, verify the route, confirm the metadata, and jam.
Holly Timecode does the one thing crews actually need from a mobile timecode app: it gets you into the right LTC setup quickly, cleanly, and without drama.

Questions? Answers.
Can Holly Timecode replace a hardware timecode generator?
For jam syncing and lightweight field work, yes. Holly Timecode outputs proper SMPTE LTC over wired audio and is a strong replacement for a dedicated box when you need a fast, dependable source. For workflows that require permanently mounted, always-on hardware timecode, dedicated generators still have a place.
Why does 29.97 default to drop-frame?
For 29.97 broadcast workflows, yes. Holly Timecode defaults 29.97 to drop-frame so crews do not accidentally start in the wrong counting mode. If you know you need non-drop-frame, you can expose that control in settings and override it deliberately.
What output path should I use for LTC?
Use a wired USB audio interface, USB-C adapter, or headphone output path that your camera, recorder, or timecode box can accept. Holly Timecode is intentionally strict about wired output because Bluetooth is not a valid LTC sync path.
What are GPS user bits?
GeoLTC uses the LTC user bits to carry GPS information alongside the timecode stream. Holly Timecode can write date-only bits, static GPS, or live GPS updates depending on the setup you need.
What is the main workflow upgrade over generic LTC apps?
Named presets. Save one setup for broadcast TV, another for documentary, another for a client camera package, and stop re-answering the same frame-rate and user-bits questions on set.
What phones does Holly Timecode support?
On Apple devices, Holly Timecode requires iOS 18 and runs on iPhone XS and later. On Android, the same core feature set runs on Android 10 or later. For GPS-based user bits on either platform, you will also want reliable location permission and a clean wired audio path before you roll.
